At no point in your life do you stop learning. It is never too late to teach old dogs new tricks! Least ways I hope not!

I have played golf for more years than I care to remember. Although my first experience was a disaster at the age of 11 when I was stopped playing by a snobby Club Secretary in Hunstanton because I wasn’t fully conversant on all rules! I was grateful in the long though, because it stopped me respecting pompous buffoons ever since!

But that is an aside. I have frequently been told I play golf better than I score. And I am in awe of how far the professionals can strike a ball.

Well this week I have found the answer to my prayers! I have just turned my back on the years of self learning observing the marvels at the Masters and ogling at the Open to embark on guidance and teaching from the GolfLab.

How it works out we shall see. But it did bring home to me the value of picking professionals and getting good advise. How do you know someone is good and good for you?

Well I am feeling confident on lesson one having been told I address the ball like a single figure handicapper and swing like a high handicapper! Just need to start swinging the hips and salsa on the tee!

Will I gather a cupboard full of silver from competitions this year? We’ll see, but in half an hour they had found an extra 40% distance on my shots.
