Brought to Task!

The DCLG have realised the Rugg review had a narrow focus and that from lobbying and comments a trick was missed.  Whilst the eyes of media and Government have focused Estate Agents and Letting Agents, the residential block management has continued its bad practices, secrecy and appalling customer service.

Well DCLG in the inimitable way of Government, buried away a paragraph in it’s response to Rugg that consideration should be given to regulating block managers.

The first steps are now being taken and a Task Force is set up to consider the narrow focus of regulation.

Thankfully, I have been asked to join this Task Force.  So hopefully we can see light at the end of the tunnel to setting the scene to getting controls and professionalism for the hard pressed leaseholders.

After all what other industry and profession allows so much money to be controlled by so many people without any control, supervision or qualifications.

Well if we get this moving forward it is one short step to see simplification of the wealth of Landlord & Tenant legislation, transparency on fees and commissions, closing down the scams and malpractice, etc.  Or is this the headlight of an on coming train to keep the amateur obfuscated malpractice!
