You would think that if you wanted to protect your job and secure the future of your organisation that everyone would work together to find common ground and a way forward.
Unfortunately the postal service seems to find this impossible. Instead they resort to strike action that has a crippling effect on businesses and individuals.
In the 21st Century I find it inconceivable that unions can still think this is an effective option.
We saw the mining industry decimated long before it need have been in the 1980’s courtesy of the militant approach. We have suffered at the hands of the Underground strikes and face yet more misery with a proposed rail strike.
Yet it seems fair game for the unions to cause untold damage to UK plc courtesy of disruption. All in the name of protectionism!
It would seem to me that we should see the monopolistic entities capable of sitting down discussing and resolving issues.
There can be no place for unrelated businesses being adversely affected by the selfishness.
We have seen delays caused to leaseholders in getting away from overcharging because of an in ability to get notices served. We have seen companies suffer in their cashflow because of delays on cheques.
Modernisation is inevitable, alternatives to post are being sought and utilised. The longer the disruption goes on the more chance that the impact on the postal service will be deeper and greater.
King Canute proved no one can turn the tide; unfortunately the Unions haven’t got that message.

Don`t just blame the Unions, haven`t the management got a responsibility to negotiate, find a compromise and avoid a strike.
Don`t believe everyting you read in the right wing media.
