Bumpy Ride....

We are truly living through strange times! Although I would guess that at some point every generation says that. A casual glance through any newspaper or any news programme sends out such mixed messages that it is very difficult to know how we ever got to where we are.

According to the Office of National Statistics 8 million people do not have a job and don’t want one. David Cameron is spouting platitudes of wanting wholesale reform to the Welfare State to stop the drain on UK Plc. Some railway companies have struggled with services because of union overtime bans. According to BBC’s Panorama the police are making judgement calls and letting alleged criminals off with cautions rather than burdening the Justice system. 1 in 3 MPs is being called to repay fiddled expenses and they bleat about it. £300 million is going to Ministry of Defence civil servant’s bonuses rather than funding our troops – some of the bonuses will be more than a soldier earns in a year!

Why the Pandora’s Box of points? Well quite simply from any way you look at it, we are in a mess and the one thing that feels certain is there is no one or group can lead us out.

We slowly sink further into a quick sand of constraints, issues, conundrums, quandaries, litigation, self-righteousness and no one is standing safe to throw us a rope.

Perhaps the next generation will see the way forward, or perhaps we deserve what we are reaping? Either way we are not in for a smooth ride economically, politically or socially!
