Grown men cry...

There is a worrying trend to see grown men cry on TV. However it is achieved or whatever the circumstance it seems to give a soft underbelly and warmth of emotion that says “I care!”

Now the recent spectacles have commenced on Sky news with a blubbing Peter Andre having been verbally mugged by Kay Burley over potential adoption of his kids by cross dressing cage fighting Alex Reid. It has subsequently led to the grand inquisitor Piers Morgan finding the soft underbelly of Gordon Brown on the ever so delicate issue of the death of his daughter.

But masterly of all or perhaps I might be a bit too cynical was the contrite and compassionate Alastair Campbell and his disintegration on the Andrew Marr programme. Now for a man who built a reputation on bullying foul mouthed tirades it is quite odd to see the mildest of inquisitions merely asking for apologies or explanations he thinks that emotion is a catch all escape for him.

How would he have reacted if one of the elected MP’s had given that type of performance when he was the unelected co-Prime Minister with Tony Blair? He would have crucified them and shown no mercy or reprieve. What does he expect – reprieve and compassion!

Well there is not much in this world that is new and there is not much that cannot be summed up with good old fashioned philosophies and ideals. Surely do unto others as you would have them do unto you is as true now as it always was.
