Lawyers!

Sometimes I think to myself “I’m glad I’m not a lawyer!”

At this point I will declare that some of my best friends are lawyers and God bless them. However, unlike lawyers, I seem to lack the ability to say someone agrees with me and then describe something completely different; or to use a thousand words when a sentence would suffice; or indeed to generally create an argument out of nothing!

I guess it is no surprise that the two oldest professions are prostitutes and lawyers and both make a buck for similar activity – if you know what I mean!

Now I have had two days of different matters which are on-going and specifics are not important. Suffice to say that at one County Court hearing the judge was sensible and pragmatic and decisive. At an LVT the next day it resembled more dancing round handbags and posturing than actually moving forward. Even when something was agreed you would think there was complete disagreement!

I am sure some will be thinking “well, Mr Southam can be pretty obtuse at times!” and indeed I can. But for me it is a necessity and occasional stance not a profession.

Of course I am being hugely unfair to the legal profession. But consider this, if we had no lawyers life would be a whole lot simpler!

But then bankers would have no one to aspire to get above in the popularity stakes and life wouldn’t be anywhere near as much fun!
